Downloading Wordfast Classic

From Wordfast Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This article will help you download the installation package for Wordfast Classic, version 6 or newer.[1] To download means to transfer data using the Internet from our server to your computer.[2] The next step after you download the package, is to unzip (extract) it and install Wordfast Classic.

The Wordfast Classic installation package is downloaded as a zip archive (*.zip file), which contains two files:

  • WfReadMe.doc - a document with simple installation instructions; and
  • wordfast.dot - the program file (MS Word template).

The package is about 2 MB in size. This means you will download it quickly even with relatively slow Internet connection.

Downloading licensed version

If you own a valid Wordfast Classic license, follow these steps:

  1. Log in at wordfast.net. Your login is successful if you see your name at the top of the page.
  2. Click the Classic download page link.
  3. Click the name of the latest Wordfast Classic version in order to download it. Alternatively, right-click the link and choose Save link as... (the exact name of the option in the context menu depends on the browser you use).
  4. Depending on your browser settings, your browser will either save the file in your standard download folder or it will prompt you to select the folder where you wish to save the file.

Downloading demo version

  2. Click the button labelled Click here to download demo version or user manual.

Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty logging in at wordfast.net or downloading Classic, do the following:

  • Try using another browser or computer, in case the problem is related to your browser settings or any other local issue.
  • Make sure your anti-virus software does not block downloading Classic.

If you use Internet Explorer, it may show a message saying Wfxxx.zip is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer. It is not an error message; it's a warning from Microsoft SmartScreen. You should be able to choose to continue with the download.
