Comparison of Wordfast products

Wordfast Classic is Wordfast's original MS Word-based tool. WFC is a macro that operates entirely inside of MS Word without running any other applications or extensions. WFC allows users to translate Word (DOC/DOCX), Excel (XLS/XLSX), PowerPoint (PPT/PPTX), Rich Text Format (RTF), and HTML files. WFC offers a familiar and intuitive interface and gives users the ability to take advantage of the many features and shortcuts that already exist inside of Microsoft Word. WFC runs on on Windows, Mac and Linux with MS Word installed, however, it cannot run on Mac Word 2008.

In 2008, Wordfast released Wordfast Pro, a standalone, multiplatform TM tool written in Java. WFP was designed to allow users to perform tasks not easily handled inside of an MS Word environment such as batch processing of files with ease and efficiency. WFP can also be used to translate a wider variety of file formats, including MS Office formats, rtf and html, as well as xml, asp, jsp, java, inx, mif, pdf and ttx. Wordfast Pro boasts a customizable UI, offering users the ability to personalize their editor view and shortcut keys.
