Bilingual Review - By Dominique Pivard

Bilingual Export in Wordfast Pro 3 allows exporting TXML files into a Word format.

The exported document can be edited using Microsoft Word and then imported back into Wordfast Pro. This is useful if you wish to:

  • Send your document to an editor who does not use a CAT tool; or
  • Use the MS Word Track Changes feature or Grammar Checker.

How-to instructions

Export TXML files for review in Word

  • Open Wordfast Pro and click the PM perspective icon.
  • Click Bilingual Export.
  • Select TXML files from the available list or click Add Files to browse for files, then select the folder with the files, click OK, and select the TXML file(s) you wish to process.
  • Click Export Review.
  • The log appears. This log and the exported document are saved in the same folder as the selected TXML file(s).

To view and edit the exported Word document, access it from the same folder where the selected TXML file(s) was located.

Import the reviewed document back into TXML

  • Open Wordfast Pro and click the PM perspective icon.
  • Click Bilingual Export.
  • Select documents from the available list or click Add Files to browse for files, then select the folder with the files, click OK, and select the document(s) you wish to process.
  • Click Import Review.

When this is done, the log appears and the changes are imported into a new TXML file with the suffix .merge.txml. Both the log and the .merge.txml file are saved in the same folder as the Word file(s).

This video shows how to use the feature.
